The City of Austin has plans to add 20 new hybrid SUV’s to the fleet of city-owned vehicles. Deputy Fleet Officer Jennifer Walls says they’re buying 20 Ford Escape hybrids. The city has a special arrangement to purchase the hybrids through a program for government fleet buyers. Seven of the vehicles will be assigned for use by employees in the Austin Water Utility, seven by the Watershed Protection Department, four by AFD, and two by the city’s Health Department. read more
