GREEN groups are particularly misguided in their criticism of the major developing economies of India, China, Mexico and Brazil for not committing to greenhouse gas cuts. Global warming has been caused solely by Western nations which, on the back of cheap energy, massively increased the prosperity of their people while at the same time refusing to share the largesse with the largely hungry Third World. If Western nations are genuinely concerned by the global impact of global warming, they need to compensate the developing world for fossil fuel restraint.
