If there's any sign that Guam is getting on the bandwagon with recycling, a container carrying bales of aluminum cans from several of the island's private and public schools was a sure sign. During a news conference yesterday, Guam Business Partners for Recycling (GBPR), under the i-recycle program, placed the last of several bales into a 20-foot container at the Ambros offices in Anigua. There are now a total of 11 private schools and 27 public schools participating, as well as the University of Guam and the Guam Community College. When the baled aluminum arrives at the West Coast, it will be purchased by Anheuser-Busch Recycling Corporation, the largest aluminum recycler in the world, at the current market price. GBPR's plan is to utilize private and public schools as sites for the aluminum can bins, giving access for the entire community to recycle all over the island. read more
